ASTORIA CINEMA, STOCKWELL ROAD, BRIXTON

Entrance elevation of the Astoria Cinema in Stockwell Road, Brixton. The cinema was designed by Edward A Stone, opening in 1929. After closure in 1972 it was saved from demolition due to listed building status, but did not reopen until 1981 as a concert venue, later becoming O2 Brixton Academy.From the Drainage Records.
