Premises of Battley Brothers Printers at 40 Queens Road, Battersea/Clapham. The company was founded in 1904 by 17-year old John Battley with his brother George, who purchased a printing works at No.40 Queens Road (now Queenstown Road). John, as a conscientious objector spent WWI at a market garden in Twickenham. The expanding firm moved during the interwar years to their Clapham Park Road printing works where it flourished, until the printing moved to Coventry in 2006. The firm's clients included the National Theatre, English National Opera, the Albert Hall, the Festival Ballet, and the Globe Theatre.
