BILLAIRD ROOM, PARK HILL, STREATHAM COMMON

View of the entrance door to the billiard room at Park Hill and showing the lever control to the ventilators concealed in the dado panelling. Built in c.1830 by William Leaf a banker and silk merchant. Sir Henry Tate, the sugar magnate (Tate and Lyle), art collector and philanthropist lived here from 1885. Bought and converted to St. Michael's Convent in 1923, the building and grounds were sold to be redeveloped as a luxury residential complex in 1999. It is a Grade II* listed building. Ref. LP21
