These flats which were built c. 1890 to house railway workers and their families lie almost in the shadow of Waterloo Station. Although rather severe in appearance to our modern taste the blocks, 300 flats in total, were well built. They echo the style of other social housing blocks of the late Victorian era. Falling into despair and lacking modern amenities such as bathrooms the blocks were finally demolished in the early 1980s.
