CAVENDISH HOUSE, CLAPHAM COMMON SOUTH SIDE: OLD STONE

Stone 2' 6" high, 1' 10 1/2" wide and 14 1/2" deep. Found during the demolition of Cavendish House, Clapham Common South Side. Thought to be a Roman memorial stone, the text states ' To the shades of Titus Licinus Ascanius. He erected it for himself in his own lifetime'. It was presented to the Clapham Library in 1909 and is located outside the library building.
