CHRIST CHURCH, GIPSY HILL, UPPER NORWOOD

Christ Church was opened by Bishop Sumner of Winchester on 8th June 1867 and is seen here from Highland Road towards the corner. After a fire in 1982 a new church was built adjacent to the tower, which survived and was converted into a dwelling renamed Highland Tower. The roof of the Crystal Palace can be seen in the distance.
