Christina Alexandrou in traditional Greek Cypriot dress posing for photographer Harry Jacobs in his Landor Road studio, Stockwell. Christina and her sister remember being sent to a Greek community school in Clapham North to learn Greek Cypriot culture, which included dancing in traditional dress - this one being borrowed by her mother for the photograph. The photo is still in its original decorative mount and was hand-tinted to add colour to the black and white image, a technique soon to be superseded by cheaper colour photography.Digital Image by kind permission of Androulla Tallis and Christiana Brook.
