The Congregational Chapel at 35 Stockwell Green. First built in 1798 as Stockwell New Chapel for 'a new class of dissenters denominated Independents' - it also had a small graveyard. The building was considerably extended and given this facade in 1850 by the architect James Wilson. William Booth the founder of the Salvation Army was married here on 17th June 1855. The congregation moved to a smaller premises in 1989 and the building became a mosque. Photograph by M.D.Trace, dated June 1968.
