The central hall of Friday Grove in Grove Road (now Weir Road), one of the grandest of several mansions built in Clapham Park. The house was constructed in 1845 by the architect J.T.Knowles Snr, as his own residence. It later became the home of Sir Polydore de Keyser, hotelier and Lord Mayor of London. Friday Grove was subsequently renamed Chatham House, but was demolished when the area was redeveloped in 1898-1902. It is now the site of Radbourne Road. Scan of negative from Clapham Antiquarian Society, photographed prior to demolition.
