GENERAL LYING-IN HOSPITAL, YORK ROAD, WATERLOO

The General Lying-In Hospital, York Road, Waterloo, was built in 1828. It was founded in 1765 as a charitable institution for poor women from urban slums. The hospital closed in 1971.Ref: SP12/557/GEN.1
