Terraced housing in Geneva Road, Brixton. The street was one of several in the area which became home to the newly-arrived West Indian immigrant community from the late 1950s onwards. Geneva Road has since been demolished and replaced with council housing.
A former childhood resident of Geneva Road, Amon Kelly recalls: 'My children were amazed at the size of my house where I was born. I often talked to them about my home but was unable to get across how big it was and that it had a basement and wine cellars. You could get lost in the garden and we had chickens, a goat, an orchard and gas lamps'.
