GRAND SOUTH WALK, VAUXHALL GARDENS

The Grand South Walk and Handel's statue in Vauxhall Gardens, after a painting by Canaletto and engraved by John S Miller in 1753. Republished here by Laurie & Whittle in 1794. Miller (or Johann Sebastian Muller) was born in Nurnberg, came to London in 1744 and became a draughtsman/ engraver. He lived for some time at No.10 Vauxhall Walk where he died in 1792 and was buried in St Mary's Lambeth.
