The Henry Thornton Boy's Secondary School was opened in 1929 by the London County Council. The school was rebuilt in 1966-69 to the designs of Farmer & Dark when the school became a comprehensive. Both South Lodge and Stowey House were demolished in 1966 to make way for the school, which then closed in 1987. In 1993 the buildings were refurbished and reopened as Lambeth College.
