Kennington Road seen from Bowling Green Street with the Horns Tavern in a state of dereliction opposite. A combination of wartime damage and the 1887 Victorian architecture falling from favour, led to the demolition c.1965 of this local landmark. An office block was subsequently built on the corner site, adjacent to the block on the left which was constructed on the site of the tavern's bomb-damaged Assembly Hall.
