The band leader, Joe Loss (centre) with a group of friends - from left to right: Ezrick Frances, a prominent Brixton “mechanic” (freemason); Chick La Rose, Brixton hair dresser, originally based in Somerleyton Road; Ena McDonald who had a hair weaving studio in Maxted Road, Peckham, and Courtney Laws who was the chair of the Friends of the Jamaica Labour Party.
