LAMBETH WALK GROUP PRACTICE, LAMBETH

LAMBETH WALK GROUP PRACTICE, LAMBETH

The Lambeth Walk Group Practice doctor's surgery was originally built by the Council as the new Lambeth Baths, opening in 1958 to replace the 1897 building destroyed by a V2 rocket during World War II. They provided the public with baths and a laundry, but with falling demand closed and were converted to their current use in the 1990s. Lambeth Towers can be glimpsed behind, built in 1972 on the site of the earlier baths by Lambeth's first Borough Architect, Ted Hollamby.Digital image courtesy of Penelope Gretton.
