The residence of Sydney Lawrence Esq, on the corner of Poynders Road and Cavendish Road, was one of many large Victorian villas built in the fashionable suburb of Clapham Park. However, by the end of the century the house had been demolished and the extensive grounds were redeveloped with the terraced houses of Rudloe and Honeybrook Roads.
