LICENCE: CHRISTMAS WAITS IN LAMBETH

A licence granted for H Eagles, W Veal, C Adam and Brocksopp to perform the Christmas Waits in 1840 'according to the annual custom at Christmas time, within the Borough of Lambeth.' The permission was first given on 11th December 1821 by R.J.Chambers Esq, and B Allen Esq. The musicians claim they 'have been greatly defrauded by imposters' and 'hope the inhabitants will be cautious to whom they give their annual donation'.
