LOLLARD ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND, WAKE STREET, LAMBETH

'Look out kids! Here comes the Mayor!' Lambeth's mayor arriving on a motorbike at the Lollard Adventure Playground, a community-led initiative begun in 1955 on a bombsite and run by a voluntary association supported by grants and fund raising. The main entrance was in Wake Street, seen here looking towards Lambeth Walk. The playground site was replaced in the 1960s by the Lilian Baylis School.
