Loughborough Road, North Brixton. This view looking north from near the junction with Barrington Road has considerably altered as this stretch of the road runs through the Loughborough Estate, built in the 1960s to meet the shortage of post-war housing. The larger of the signs seen in the background on the left advertises Smith James Edwin, fern nurseryman, next to the Hero of Switzerland public house. Most of the area suffered severe bomb damage during the war and the pub was replaced by a new one of the same name. Linskey Postcard Collection.
