MAJOR ARTHUR RULE, YEOMAN OF THE KING’S BODYGUARD

The late Major Arthur Rule (1826-1915) a Crimean war veteran and a resident of Herne Hill. He was the Senior Messenger of the King's Bodyguards, commonly known as Beefeaters. Major Rule was in service for 67 years and the many awards he received included the Cross of the Legion of Honour. From Brixton Free Press, dated 11th June 1915.
