METHODIST CHAPEL TEMPORARY ALTAR, MOSTYN ROAD, BRIXTON

A Christ-like 'apparition' above the altar at Mostyn Church, Brixton North. Due to, the church sustaining bomb damage during WWII, destruction of the manse and the hall made unstable by work, services had to be held in an air raid shelter. Later, part of the church under the back gallery was made water-proof for services. However, as the wall above the temporary communion table dried, stains appeared forming a face. Photograph dated 28th February 1949.
