P. B. COW FACTORY, FACTORY SQUARE, STREATHAM COMMON

P. B. COW FACTORY, FACTORY SQUARE, STREATHAM COMMON

Stephen Wilson constructed a silk mill here in 1820. These buildings were the first purpose-built textile factory in London. The mill was sold to industrialist Henry Cow as part of his rubber factory. Rear view showing the factory yard. All the buildings at the Factory Square were demolished excepting the mill, to make way for a large Sainsbury's supermarket with car park.
