PRINCE ALBERT, COLDHARBOUR LANE, BRIXTON CENTRAL

PRINCE ALBERT, COLDHARBOUR LANE, BRIXTON CENTRAL

The Prince Albert public house in Coldharbour Lane after refurbishment. This photograph is from an article in a contemporary journal which describes the facade with its 'brown-tiled lower front surmounted by handmade tapestry brickwork relieved with simple stone dressings, and the roof finished with rough-quarried Westmoreland slates'. The interior is also described as having a Saloon Bar, Public Bar and Luncheon Room and speaks of the use of mirrors to create space and 'a warm atmosphere to the bars by the treatment in plastic of the walls and ceilings'. The pub still exists under the same name.
