REGAL CINEMA, NORWOOD ROAD, WEST NORWOOD

The Regal Cinema at 304 Norwood Road was opened on 16th January 1930 with the movies 'Midnight Daddies' and 'The Letter'. The interior auditorium seating 2,010 was designed by F. De Jong & Co. Ltd., and the architect was F. Edward Jones, who also designed Madame Tussaud's. The cinema became a Bingo hall in 1964, closing in 1978 and was demolished in 1981, becoming the site of a B&Q DIY store. Photograph by John East.
