REMAINS OFJOHN TRADESCANT’S GARDEN, SOUTH LAMBETH

'Some Account of the Remains of John Tradescant's Garden at Lambeth by Mr W. Watson'. The visit by Watson and Dr Mitchell took place on the 21st May 1749. They described the site as 'totally neglected and the house belonging to it empty and ruined'. Amongst the plants observed were two Arbutus trees (Strawberry trees) 'the largest I have seen' and a Rhamnus tree.
