A detail from John Rocque's London maps showing Brixton Hill, then Brixtow or Bristow Causeway - the current site of Brixton was undeveloped, although Acre Lane is clearly marked, as is Rushy Green (Common). Also shown are Island Green and Knight's Hill, now West Norwood, plus West Dulwich.
