Beulah House at 274 South Lambeth Road (formerly No.254) was built after 1791 by William Burrows, plasterer of South Lambeth. It was first leased in 1798 to Horatio Clagett and from 1825 to John Poynder, solicitor, until his death in 1849. In 1852 the house, which included a laundry and dry-ground, was leased by Thomas Cook, William Hill and Henry M. Rogers. Their laundry had been established earlier in 1823 and they became royal launderers by appointment to King George V and the Prince of Wales. When this photograph was taken in 1967 it was still the premises of 'Rogers and Cook; Launderers, Dyers and Cleaners'.Photograph by M.D.Trace dated 6th November 1967.
