Birchington Hall, Birchington, Kent. Birchington Hall, together with 40 acres of farmland, was bought in 1921 from donations from Jubilee celebrations of Spurgeon's Orphanage in 1917. Birchington Hall was adapted to accept young children and convalescent children from Spurgeon's Orphanage in Stockwell. The building took over the rôle of the seaside home in Cliftonville, Margate, Kent in 1923. Original image and copyright held by Spurgeon's Child Care Trust.Ref: IV/243/1-6, SPd3498
