St Andrew's Church, Landor Road, was originally built as a chapel of ease in 1767 on the Stack Yard Field, land belonging to the of Duke of Bedford. In 1867 it was substantially remodelled by the architect Henry Edward Cole to accommodate 1,043 parishioners and include a tower. The church was consecrated and dedicated to St Andrew on 11th June 1868. In the 1880s the brick exterior was rendered and later in 1924 the internal side galleries were dismantled.
