Streatham Public Baths and assembly rooms, situated in Streatham High Road near Streatham Common, were opened in 1927. The building replaced a large house called Park Lodge. The swimming bath was converted in winter into a dance hall, complete with platform, sprung dance-floor and special lighting effects. The assembly rooms were a popular venue for public occasions and meetings.
