Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556). Appointed Archbishop of Canterbury in 1533 during the reign of Henry VIII. Resided at Lambeth Palace and was mainly responsible for the Prayer Books that resulted in the Book of Common Prayer. Was burned at the stake in 1556 as a Protestant.
