VAUXHALL GARDENS, VAUXHALL

Vauxhall Gardens, Vauxhall. The orchestra stand erected in 1758 replacing an earlier one. Showing singers and musicians entertaining the public in the centre of the grove. On either side can be seen the colonnade and supper-boxes with the Grand Walk and avenue on the left. The pleasure gardens are now marked by Tyers Street and Spring Gardens, renamed Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens in 2012. Engraving published by Alex Hogg, 1784.
