Inset above, the figure of Joel II Diavolo can be seen making his descent on a single wire amidst fireworks. The pleasure gardens are now marked by Tyers Street and Spring Gardens, renamed Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens in 2012. Engraving from a contemporary periodical, 1845.
