Mr William Augustus Gorman of Siebe Gorman & Co, 187 Westminster Bridge Road, Lambeth. The company was founded in 1820 by Augustus Siebe who was later joined by William Gorman, who began at the firm as an apprentice. They were submarine and diving equipment engineers noted for wreck-raising and harbour work. Their submarines were exported to Russia, Spain, Italy, France and China, plus they provided expert divers for 'historical' deep-sea exploits on wrecks.
