WOMEN’S ENGINEERING WORKS, BRIXTON ROAD, KENNINGTON

The world's only engineering factory entirely run by women at Nos 1&3 Brixton Road Kennington. Atalanta Ltd was founded in Derby in 1920 and relocated to Brixton Road in 1925. It made component parts for aircraft companies, Marconi's and the BBC. Owned by Lady Parsons and managed by Miss Ashberry, the company specialised in the training of young women in engineering. From South London Press dated 30th September 1930
