Horse-drawn cabs (Hackney Carriages) along from the main entrance to Waterloo Station in York Road. Opposite, on the corner with Vine Street, are advertising billboards featuring Bovril, Blackfriars Cigars and Dean's Rag Toys. From the Bovril Album recording their bill posting sites, c.1905.The Penny Magazine 24th February 1900 stated; '30,000 horses are employed in vehicular traffic in London....with 100,000 vehicles passing through the City during twenty-four hours'.
